Meeting with your academic advisor can be one of the most valuable things you do to stay on track with your degree. Here’s a list of questions to ask your advisor, depending on where you are in your college journey:
- Which classes should I take next semester? Can we map out my remaining semesters?
- Do I have any general education requirements?
- What prerequisites do I need to fulfill?
- Can I double major or add a minor? How will that affect my graduation timeline?
- How many credits do I still need to complete my degree?
- Are there any GPA requirements for my major?
- What happens if I drop or fail a class? Can I retake a class to improve my grade?
- How do transfer credits work? Can I take summer classes elsewhere?
- Are there student organizations or academic clubs related to my major?
- Where can I get tutoring or academic support?
- Are there resources for first-generation or non-traditional students?
- When should I check in with you again?
