Oak Watering & Maintenance Volunteer Event

May 23 at 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Image
Rivers And Lands Logo

We’re looking for volunteers to join Rivers & Lands Conservancy staff on Saturday, May 23rd to help water and care for the young oak seedlings planted at our Cienega Canyon Preserve, located in the City of Calimesa!

Unfortunately, oak trees at Cienega Canyon Preserve face many challenges, including drought, pests, and disease. To meet these challenges, we’re working with local community partners, students, and volunteers to restore oak woodland habitat for the many types of animals that call Cienega Canyon Preserve home.

Participating volunteers will assist with hand watering, mulching, and weeding oak planting sites. The event requires hand carrying water jugs, using hand tools such as shovels, and walking approximately 2-3 miles over uneven, dirt terrain for the duration of the event.

Volunteers must register ahead of time. For more event details and to register, click here. Questions? Reach out to Angie at aleon@riversandlands.org. Space is limited, so save your spot today!

Within months of initially removing invasive plants, volunteers witness native plants re-sprouting on their own. No experience is necessary. We will have snacks and tools to share. No need to reserve a spot, meet us at the specified locations a few minutes before 10 am. Training, camaraderie, and beautiful scenery are provided.

DERT meets two times a month:
Every second Saturday of the month from 10 am to 1 pm
Every third Sunday of the month from 10 am to 1 pm
