You will graduate with core skills in critical thinking, research, writing, and organization. The curriculum foregrounds dialogue and active learning and students gain strong communication and leadership skills.

Graduates are prepared to enter fields like politics and government, law, business, social services, activism and community organizing. In addition, CRGS alumni will be in a strong position to enter and successfully complete graduate study programs in a number of disciplines, as well as professional and credential programs, leading to a range of career paths.

Holly Lemyre

Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality StudiesAnthropology, 2017

Holly has had the unique pleasure of applying the toolkit gained in her CRGS degree to a field she'd never heard of before graduation: pelvic health. She's spent the last two and a half years working at Origin, a femtech startup committed to changing the future of health for individuals with a vaginal pelvic floor.

Diana Argueta

Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2017

Diana Argueta, Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2017, returned to the world of immigrant rights after many years of being away, and she loves it! She is am currently a social worker case managing two programs housing children in custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement and Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. She advocates for children who have no one to care for them in their country of origin or in the U.S. as they start their life over in this country and apply for political asylum.

Kimiko Nishitsuji

Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, 2016

After graduating with a degree in CRGS I'm 2016, Kimiko Nishitsuji spent the last three years as a county eligibility worker at the County of Humboldt. Prior to that, she served as the Patient Benefits Coordinator at Mad River Community Hospital. She recently relocated back to LA County and is the Medi-Cal Enrollment Specialist for WelbeHealth PACE, providing case management for medically complex at risk elders. She lives with her partner Patrick Notthoff (2012) and her cat Mr. Mochi.
