Shannon Childs was the Head Athletic Trainer at Cal Poly Humboldt from 2002 to 2026 and unexpectedly passed away on June 15, 2026. He was a beloved and respected member of the Humboldt campus community and impacted the lives of thousands of student-athletes. 

In collaboration with Shannon’s family, the Shannon Childs Athletic Training Endowment has been created to honor the legacy of dedication and caring that Shannon left behind. This endowment will directly support the Cal Poly Humboldt Head Athletic Trainer in perpetuity, helping to enhance the care they are able to provide for student-athletes.
