Daniel Barton, PhD

Dan Barton joined the Cal Poly Humboldt faculty in 2012 as a quantitative population ecologist. He earned a BS from the Evergreen State College in 2001 and a PhD from the University of Montana in 2012. Since becoming intensely interested in birds in 1999, Dan has studied and taught a diversity of ornithological, ecological, and evolutionary topics in a variety of places, from Venezuela to Alaska to Hawaii. He currently focuses his research on the population biology and conservation of seabirds in the northeastern Pacific Ocean and Humboldt Bay estuary, as well as small mammal-plant interactions.
