HOC Talks

Science advances through conversation.

The HOC Talks seminar series brings together students, faculty, conservation practitioners, alumni, and visiting scientists to share new discoveries and discuss emerging questions in ornithology and bird conservation. Each semester features presentations by HOC faculty and researchers, along with distinguished Humboldt alumni who are making important contributions to ornithology around the world.

Seminars are held on the Cal Poly Humboldt campus and are open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the local community. HOC members (link to membership) can also attend remotely, allowing alumni and supporters to stay connected with the latest research and the HOC community from wherever they live.

Talks may feature:

• leading ornithologists from around the world
• local conservation practitioners
• graduate student research
• career panels
• discussions of new techniques and technologies in bird research

Seminars are open to students, researchers, birders, and members of the public interested in birds and conservation.
