Frank Fogarty, PhD

Frank Fogarty has taught in the Wildlife Department at Cal Poly Humboldt since 2019. He received his B.S. from University of Florida, his M.S. and M.P.P. from University of Maryland, College Park, and his PhD from University of California, Davis. Frank’s work has focused on the ecology and management of birds in the western U.S., especially in montane systems including the Great Basin, Sierra Nevada, and Cascades, as well as how we use quantitative methods to evaluate occupancy and abundance. In his current role as Associate Professor of Applied Avian Ecology, Frank’s lab has examined the responses of birds to potential disturbances like wildfire, timber harvest, habitat fragmentation, and aridification.
