Research interests
I'm interested in the rise and impact of Christian nationalism on the social and political landscape including attitudes toward environmental issues and climate change.

Education/career goals
After completing this program I plan to pursue a PhD and either teach college or work for a research institution focusing on my interests.

Before the program
I have a BA in cultural anthropology and a minor in philosophy from Cal Poly Humboldt and two associate's degrees in communications and behavioral and social science from College of the Redwoods. I was a minister for over 20 years so I have a unique vantage point and extensive experience with my research interests.

Why Humboldt public sociology?
This program will give me the theoretical and research tools I need to pursue my academic and professional goals.

Fun stuff
I've been married to my best friend since 1994 and we have two adult sons. We've lived in India and New Zealand and worked as semi-professional musicians and houseparents at a group home for children. I like playing music, long walks in the woods and messing around with motorcycles.
