Lisa Turay (her/she/hers), LPCC
Staff Psychotherapist
As a psychotherapist, it is a privilege to walk with anyone who courageously seeks help as they navigate through life. It is a joy to be part of the CAPS team at Cal Poly Humboldt. I moved to Humboldt in 2016 and immediately fell in love with the environs. The area allows for many ways to experience the healing properties of nature. Be it walking or hiking in our local forests or biking along one of our coastal trails. If an activity takes me outside, that's where I find peace and healing.
Areas of Interest
As a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), I have access to a number of supports and resources that are beneficial when working with our trans, gender non-conforming and gender non-binary student population. I am also part of the Gender Affirming Care steam at the Student Health Center and facilitate a drop-in support group. Follow this link for more information.
I am also part of the CAPS Dialectical Behavioral Therapy team. This team is a group of staff psychologists and psychotherapists who offer individual therapy and skills building workshops, providing support in core mindfulness skills, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation and distress tolerance. Participation in the DBT program requires a referral. Contact CAPS for more information.
