Health Product Vending Machines
Health Vending Machine Locations (All 5 are accessible during the academic year):
- Nelson Hall East - Across from the Goodwin Forum. Accessible 24/7!
- Jolly Giant Commons - 3rd floor, next to the Housing Cashier’s desk
- College Creek - in the mail room lobby
- Gutswurrak Student Activities Center - 1st floor, just inside the entrance to the Depot
- Hinarr Hu Moulik apartments - in the laundry room
What Items Are Available in the Machines?
The health product vending machines offer supplies such as Emergency Contraception aka “the morning after pill” for only $11, as well as cold and flu supplies, condoms, tampons, pregnancy tests, bandaids, and much more! Cash and credit card payment options.
Our goal is always to offer health items at as low of a cost as possible. Currently we are able to offer some items for free in the health vending machines! Free items include Narcan nasal spray, Fentanyl test strips, and menstrual products.
NARCAN Trainings: Cal Poly Humboldt is invested in the safety of our students. We offer Narcan (a nasal spray version of Naloxone) at various locations on campus as a life-saving medication in preventing opioid overdose. Fentanyl is an extremely potent opioid that is a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in our country. Illicit fentanyl has been found in many drugs, including heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and counterfeit pills. The presence of fentanyl in these drugs increases the likelihood of a fatal overdose. Fentanyl test strips can be used prior to ingesting such drugs to test for the presence of fentanyl thereby limiting risk. To learn more, please see the CDC website on fentanyl. It is important not just to have Narcan "at the ready" for life threatening situations of potential overdose, but to know how to use it correctly.
Our Health Education team offers Narcan trainings to our campus community. Please email Mira Friedman to set up a training session with someone from our team. We will bring free boxes of Narcan as well as Fentanyl test strips to the training to distribute and will provide information about resources for support and proper medication disposal. We also offer free Narcan in our health vending machines on campus as well as at Student Health and Counseling.
