Get Involved

Anthropology is a dynamic community that brings together intersecting subfields. We encourage all students to get involved with our social and extra curricular activities in order to make the most of their time at Cal Poly Humboldt.

Anthropology Club

The Anthropology Club organizes social activities like craft nights, movie screenings, archeological walks and more. Meeting days and times vary. Follow their Instagram for up to date information.

Field Programs

Anthropology Student Research Symposium

Undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to present their original anthropology-related research, project, or theoretical paper at our annual symposium.

Internship and Student Assistant Opportunities

Get involved with the department by joining the team as an intern or student assistant. This is an excellent way to become more deeply embedded in the ANTH community.

Student Travel Funds

The department accepts applications for funding to support student travel for conferences, research, or to attend a Cal Poly Humboldt anthropology field program.

Anthropology Department Canvas

If you are an Anthropology major or minor, you should be enrolled in the Anthropology Department Canvas, which has a variety of resources and links for students. It should show up on your Canvas dashboard, and it should be accessible to you when you click this link. If you are a major or minor and do not have access, please email the Department Chair or anth@humboldt.edu and ask to be added.

Rotation of Online and In-Person Offerings

We know that some students prefer in-person classes and some prefer online classes, and that this preference can change from semester to semester and class to class. The document linked below is our best estimate of course modes over the next approximately 5 years so you can plan for what works best for you!
