Victor Hernandez
Art, 2007
Victor Hugo Hernandez ('07), inventor of the ErgoFlex Desk, is excited to announce the upcoming launch of his Kickstarter campaign for the first AI-powered ergonomic desk. The ErgoFlex Desk, designed to sit, stand, tilt, and glide, was inspired by Victor’s passion for innovative design, which began during his time at Cal Poly Humboldt. After moving back to Southern California to care for his mother, Victor returned to school to refine his idea, leading to a patented design that enhances health and productivity. Recently featured on How I Built This, Victor’s journey showcases the impact of Cal Poly’s hands-on learning approach.
Beckie Menten
Politics, M.S. in Environmental Systems, 2007
Beckie Menten works at the California Energy Commission as an Energy Efficiency Specialist. She is currently working on programs to increase the energy performance of residential and commercial properties, including finding financing mechanisms for homeowners.
Garrett Edward Spears
Journalism, 2007
Garrett Edward Spears has retired from independent professional wrestling after eight years of traveling throughout California, Oregon, and Mexico. He is now an Associate Producer for the television show Horror Hotel. It promotes classic and independent movies within the genres of horror and science fiction. It is shown on Retro TV, The Action Channel, and The Monster Channel. He has also started dabbling in acting and is thinking about getting back into traveling entertainment.
Robert Deane
Journalism, History , 2007
Robert Deane, 2007 Journalism and History, is currently the library technician/paraprofessional aide for the Butte Valley Unified School District. Deane also completed his second year of coaching the school’s junior varsity boy’s basketball team, winning the Evergreen League title with a 6-0 league record. Deane will begin the teaching credential program at Simpson University this summer.

After serving as a Health Volunteer for the Peace Corps in Honduras, I am back in Arcata. I work for Northcoast Children's Services as a Bilingual Family Service Specialist serving high-needs families with children enrolled in Head Start.
Christopher Andriessen

Utilizing a decade's worth of private sector experience, Christopher Andriessen, Politics, 2007, recently joined Caltrans in its District 9 office as its new Maintenance Public Information Officer. The move follows two years of working for the California Department of Insurance in San Francisco.

Working with the High Performance Building Standards group at the California Energy Commission on reducing energy in existing buildings.
Robert Deane
History, Journalism, 2007
Robert Deane currently works in the Public Services Department of the Oregon Tech Library, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He graduated with his MA Ed. in Social Studies from Western Governors University in 2019 and is nearing completion of his Masters in Library Science: Children & Youth Services from St. John's University.
Michelle Gienger
History, Economics, 2007
A few years ago Michelle Gienger, History, 2007, transitioned from a Federal Investigator at the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to a Management and Program Analyst with the US Department of Justice, Office of the Inspector General. In this position, she is on a team that conducts reviews of DOJ programs for the DOJ, Congress, and public.
Robert Deane

Robert Deane, Journalism, 2007, works as a Library Technician II for the Oregon Tech Library in Klamath Falls, Oregon. In February of 2020 Deane graduated with his Masters in Education: Social Studies, from Western Governor's University and is now working on his Masters in Library Science from St. John's University via distance education.
