How The Career Center Can Help You

Helping employers with various recruitment activities is an integral part of our mission to assist students in securing employment and experiential learning opportunities while they’re in college and beyond.  We want to help!  Below are a few of the ways we can help your organization or company increase visibility on our campus.

Recruitment opportunities

Handshake – our free, online job board – allows employers to post jobs and paid internship openings that all registered students at Cal Poly Humboldt have access to. Beginning in Fall 2026, we are extending Handshake access to all past Humboldt graduates as well. Check out the Job Board header above for more information on how you can post your open positions.

Here is a rundown of our large-scale employer events for the 2026/27 Academic Year. Smaller special events happen in coordination with our Employer Partners year-round. For more details, click on Employer Partnerships at the top of the page.

  •  Part-time Job Fair I Tuesday August 25, 2026 I 10 am-2pm, University Quad

This all-majors job fair takes place the first week of classes every Fall semester and focuses on local and on-campus job opportunities for students enrolled in classes. Our theme is “Get a Taco, Get a Job” and features a taco bar for participating students and employers. The deadline for employers to register this year is August 12th at 5pm.

Engineering Internship & Job Fair I Tuesday October 29, 2026 I 10 am-2pm, at our brand new Engineering Building!

This fair is an opportunity to build awareness of employment and intern opportunities for our Engineering students and upcoming graduates. All Cal Poly Humboldt engineering students are able to participate and our Career Passport game encourages them to have conversations with each participating employer. A free student lunch and lots of opportunities to win prizes and swag from participating employers, makes this a fun day for all who participate.

  • Career Expo & Volunteer Fair I Thursday February 11, 2027 I 11am-3pm, West Gym

This all-majors event is our largest job fair of the year. It is open to all types of employers interested in recruiting summer positions, post graduation jobs or internship and volunteer opportunities.

On-campus interviews is great way to built your business or organization's presence on campus. If you have posted your position on Handshake and would like to reserve a room to conduct interviews at Cal Poly Humboldt, we can help.  Email your Handshake job number and potential interview dates (at least two weeks in advance) to Employer Relations & Outreach Coordinator, Ann Johnson-Cruz at acj1@humboldt.edu.

The Cal Poly Humboldt Career Development Center welcomes local and out-out-of-area employers to join us in our Employer Partner Program to boost your recruitment efforts and contribute on a deeper level with the career development of Humboldt students and alumni.

Through this program, our partners enable the Career Center to provide food to participating students at all of our in-person events.  This effort has paid off in spades for students who struggle with food insecurity as well as those with limited time to participate in events outside of regular class time. These efforts drive engagement and improve recruiting successes.

For more information on how you can get involved and become a 'Jacks Career Services Partner, click on the Employer Partnerships header above or email Employer Relations Coordinator Ann Johnson-Cruz at acj1@humboldt.edu.
