Complete your bachelors degree in Leadership Studies

Leadership Studies is a flexible, affordable CSU degree that is offered asynchronously online and meets the needs of local students who are working or unable to attend in-person courses. With accelerated, 8-week courses, most students graduate within two years, for under $20,000. The degree is state and federal financial aid eligible. 

What can I do with the degree in Leadership Studies?

A degree in Leadership Studies is designed to help you advance in a variety of careers, including entrepreneurs, private business, non-profit management, government, social services, healthcare, education, fire-fighting, and law enforcement, among others. The major is interdisciplinary and draws from psychology, sociology, communication, sustainability, business, and management disciplines.

Foundational coursework provided by College of the Redwoods

All majors are encouraged to apply! Leadership Studies is relevant to a variety of fields of study. For instance, the College of the Redwoods (CR) Associate of Arts: Liberal Arts Behavioral and Social Science Degree and Starting and Managing a Business Certificate of Recognition are existing credentials that create an ideal transfer pathway into the Cal Poly Leadership Studies Program.

Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts: Behavioral and Social Sciences Degree

This is the most flexible and popular associate degree at CR! The courses are an ideal foundation for advanced study on leadership in many types of organizations, and the courses cover key lower division general education requirements. This can be completed in person or online.

Certificate of Recognition: Starting and Managing a Business

This 14-unit, one-semester certificate offers basic knowledge and skills for success in the business world, and provides guidance for entrepreneurs. This can be completed in person or online.

Guidance 47: Leadership Development

Guidance 47: Leadership Development (2 units): This CR course complements other degrees and certificates, and offers students a chance to engage with the theory and personal application of leadership studies.

Police academy graduates, College of the Redwoods

Associate of Science in Police Science Pathway

Students completing the College of the Redwoods Associate of Science in Police Science recommended guided pathway, which includes CSU-transferable units from the POST Basic Training Academy, can seamlessly transfer into the Cal Poly Humboldt fully online B.A. in Leadership Studies program. This pathway supports working law enforcement professionals by providing a flexible degree-completion option that develops leadership, communication, and decision-making skills essential for professional advancement.

60 CSU Transferable Units

Even if you have NOT completed an A.A., AS-T, or AA-T degree, you can still transfer! Likewise, other career education programs from College of the Redwoods also offer a pathway to Leadership Studies. To be admitted, you need to have 60-70 CSU transferable credits, the “Golden Four” completed, and a 2.0 overall GPA.

CR SEED Project

 If you live near a CR campus, through the Satellite Education and Employment Development (SEED) Project, you can also access support services, tutoring, computer labs, etc. at CR, while you attend Cal Poly Humboldt.
