Roselyn's 2026 Candidate Statement

My name is Roselyn Montanez, and I am excited to be running for the Associated Students position of Executive Vice President. I am currently in my second year at Cal Poly Humboldt, soon entering my third, and I am pursuing a degree in Psychology with plans to attend Dental School after graduation.
I currently serve on Associated Students as the Officer of Environmental Sustainability, a role that has strengthened my understanding of campus-wide issues and the broader challenges facing students across the CSU system. This experience has inspired me to step into a larger leadership position where I can help ensure that student voices are centered in every major decision.
During my time at Cal Poly Humboldt, I have built meaningful connections with fellow students, faculty, and staff. These relationships have shown me just how important it is for our community to feel supported, informed, and represented. If elected as Executive Vice President, I will work to make sure students clearly understand how their tuition fees are allocated and how policies and budgets directly impact our student body.
My goals for this position revolve around strengthening our campus community. I am committed to fostering an environment where inclusivity, representation, and collaboration are more than just values, they are actively practiced. I plan to advocate for students who are underrepresented, making sure that every student, regardless of background or identity, feels heard, valued, and involved in campus-wide budgeting and decision-making processes.
Thank you for considering me for this opportunity. I am eager to continue serving our student body and to help create a safe, connected, and empowering community here at Cal Poly Humboldt.
