Our department values collaboration and community-building, and encourages students to get involved with opportunities both on and off campus.
Child Development Laboratory
The Child Development Lab provides high quality hands-on learning experiences teaching preschool aged children and collaborating with their peers.
Directed Field Experience
Our students have opportunities to work in the community, gaining valuable professional experience. The Directed Field Experience course (CD 482) is supervised community fieldwork that integrates theory into practice.

Peer Mentorship
Our majors work side by side with faculty to provide feedback and support for students in specific classes. These are typically paid positions and are usually a semester in length though may in some cases be year long appointments

Child Development Association
The Child Development Association (CDA) is a student club that organizes activities to support the needs of community children and families, advocate on current issues and foster the professional development of students working with children and families. Everyone is welcome to participate. Come join us!
