Danyelle Allen

Dance, Music & Theatre

Music Senior, Danyelle Allen, has received the Presser Foundation Undergraduate Music Scholar Award.  This national-level award is given to graduating seniors who have achieved a high level of music and academic excellence, demonstrated leadership, and contributed to an inclusive community. Danyelle is a tenor saxophonist who has been a Honors recital and Concerto Competition winner, and a member of the Ghost Ryder Saxophone quartet.  This year she is organizing the first Music program Black History Month concert.

Cindy Moyer

On February 11 in Sacramento, Cindy Moyer, received the Distinguished Service Award from the California Orchestra Director's Association.  The award was presented during the California All-State Music Education Conference, and honors "individuals who selflessly served the California Orchestra Directors Association, and its activities, including continuous support of California Music Education, of CASMEC and it's affiliated organizations, and of other Music Educators in the state."

L. Rae Robison

Assoc. Professor Rae Robison, National Member at Large in Design, Technology & Management for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre organization, served as a guest respondent for the Region 1 festival in Cape Cod, Massachusetts last week. Rae led a team of professionals from Yale, the New York City Ballet and other universities from across the country in responses to student designs in scenic, sound, costume and lighting design as well as allied crafts. Rae also co-responded to the invited production of Everybody from Naugatuck Valley Community College.

In service as the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre National Member-at-Large for Design, Technology and Management, Rae traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to respond to design and technology work in Costumes, Scenic, Properties, Sound, Lighting and Allied Design for Region 2's multi state festival. Robison also served as a production respond to their invited production of Mud by María Irene Fornés.

Theatre Professor L. Rae Robison is a contributor to the new Routledge publication of Masking in Pandemic U.S.: Beliefs and Practices of Containment and Connection by Urmila Mohan. This anthropological study explores the beliefs and practices that emerged around masking in the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Feb. 17-20 eighteen theatre majors attended the virtual Kennedy Center American Theatre Festival. Gwynnevere won the regional Aspire award and will represent Region 7 in Washington DC. Sammi won a scholarship to CSU Summer Arts to study with Second City improv, and Destiny won a one week scholarship to the Stagecraft Institute of Lighting in Las Vegas. Congratulations students!
