Important Dates
Last day to provide 30 Days notice to vacate the residence halls at the end of the fall semester
Nov 20 2025Residents must complete a Vacate Form in the myHousing portal if they will be moving out of the residence halls at the end of the fall semester. A 30 days' notice is required to avoid penalties. Residents that move out before the end of the full Academic Year 2025-2026 will be charged the $200 cancellation fee for breaking their agreement.
Fall Break
Nov 24 - 28 2025Fall Break is November 24 - November 28. The residence halls will remain open. Limited services are available on-campus during break.
Room Assignments Emailed to New Spring 2026 Residents
Dec 19 2025Room assignments will be emailed to all students that submitted a housing application for the Spring 2026 semester.
Winter Break
Dec 20 2025 - Jan 19 2026Winter Break is December 20, 2025 - January 19, 2026. The residence halls will remain open. Limited services are available during break.
Last day for New Spring Residents to Cancel Application Without Penalties
Jan 2 2026Cancellations must be submitted through the myHousing portal or by email to housing@humboldt.edu by January 2, 2026. Cancellations to any other university office does not satisfy the requirement to notify the Housing Office directly. All cancellations will forfeit the nonrefundable application fee of $100.
Last Day for New Spring Residents to Cancel Application
Jan 11 2026Students that cancel their Spring 2026 Housing Application between January 3, 2026 and January 11, 2026 will be charged a daily penalty rate for their room and meal plan for each day of notice less than the required 30 days notice and a $200 cancellation fee. See the Housing License Agreement for more detail.
Residence Halls Open for New Spring 2026 residents
Jan 12 2026The residence halls open for new Spring 2026 residents on January 12, 2026. (Continuing residents who lived on-campus during the fall semester can stay for the winter break, or return at any time if they leave.)
Spring Housing & Meal Plan Payment Due

Last Day to Reduce Meal Plan for the Spring Semester

2026 - 2027 Housing Application Opens to Explore!
Feb 3 2026Beginning February 3rd at 11am, students that have accepted their admission to Cal Poly Humboldt can log into myHousing.humboldt.edu to select their preferred living areas, meal plan selection and read the documents, pay the $100 Housing Application Fee and complete any preliminary information. The application officially opens on February 18th at 3pm for First-Year Students, 9am on February 19th for New Transfers, February 20th at 9am for Continuing Students (with the last name A-L), and February 21st at 9am for Continuing Students (with the last name M-Z) and all that will be left to do is sign the license agreement and submit the application. Housing is assigned on a first come, first served basis determined by the day you complete the application process. (Continuing students that apply February 20 (A-L) and February 21 (M-Z) will be considered as applying on the first day, and will be time stamped, based on the time they submit their application).
2026 - 2027 Housing Application opens to submit for First-Year Students!
Feb 17 2026First-Year students can submit their Housing Application in their myHousing portal and pay the $100 nonrefundable application fee starting on February 17, 2025 at 3pm. Only admitted and provisionally admitted students that have accepted their admission to Cal Poly Humboldt can access the Housing Application.
2026 - 2027 Housing Application Opens to Submit for Second Year Students
Feb 19 2026The Housing Application for second-year students will open in the myHousing portal on February 19, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Students can complete their application at that time. Housing is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, determined by the date and time the application is submitted.
2026 - 2027 Housing Application Opens to Submit for Continuing Students
Feb 20 2026The Housing Application for continuing students will open in the myHousing portal on February 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Students can complete their application at that time. Housing is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, determined by the date and time the application is submitted.
Roommate Finder opens for New Residents
Mar 1 2026Roommate Finder will open in the myHousing portal on March 1, 2026 for new students that choose to look for a roommate. Students will be assigned with preferred roommates when space is available. If students are not able to be roomed with their preferred roommate or one has not been selected, students will be matched based on the preferences indicated in the Profile Questions in the application.
Spring Break
Mar 16 - 20 2026Spring Break is March 16 - March 20. The residence halls will remain open. Some services on-campus will be limited during break.
Priority Notification Deadline for Housing Assignments
Apr 1 2026Priority notification deadline to submit completed application for the first run of room assignment notifications. Room assignments or wait list notifications will be emailed in late May. Applications submitted after this date will get their room assignment or wait list notification emails in June or July.
Summer Housing Application Opens
Apr 2 2026The 2026 Summer Housing application opens at 9am on April 2nd in the myHousing portal. Summer residents are required to be enrolled in at least 1 unit for the summer.
First Round of Room Assignments, Guarantee or Waitlist Notification Emails
May 4 2026Room assignments and waitlist notifications will be emailed in May to students who submitted an application by the April 1, 2026 priority deadline.
Residence Halls Close
May 16 2026Residence Halls close at 10am on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Last Day to Cancel Housing Application for Academic Year 2026-27 and Provide 30 Days Notice
Jul 17 2026Students who wish to cancel their Housing Agreement must notify the Housing Office by canceling through their myHousing portal or by email of this decision by July 17, 2026. Notifying any other university office does not satisfy your obligation to notify Housing & Residence Life. Such requests that are received by July 17 will be honored; all cancellations will forfeit the nonrefundable application fee of $100.
Cancel on or after July 19th
Jul 17 2026Beginning July 17, 2026, requests to cancel will be honored; however, these requests will forfeit the $100 nonrefundable application fee, be charged a $200 cancellation fee, and charged a prorated daily penalty fee for each day of notice that is less than the required 30 days’ notice.
Deadline to Upload Photo for Humboldt ID
Jul 24 2026Please follow the instructions emailed to you by Admissions, or click here to upload your photo for your Humboldt ID. New students are required to submit your photo by the deadline. We will print your ID card, encode it with your room and meal plan access, and have it ready for you at check-in. If you upload your photo after the deadline, we will have a temporary access card for your room and you will need to go to the ID Office in the Library to pick up your Humboldt ID plan to bring to Housing to encode.
Residence Halls Open for First-Year Students
Aug 15 2026The residence halls will open for the year at 8:00 am, Saturday, August 15, 2026 for First-Year Students. Anyone checking into the residence halls on Saturday will have an assigned check-in time.
Residence Halls Open For New Transfer & Continuing Students
Aug 17 2026The residence halls will open for the year at 8:00 am, Monday, August 17, 2025. Anyone checking into the residence halls on Monday will have an assigned check-in time.

Spring 2027 Housing Application Opens at 9am
Oct 8 2026Spring Only online Housing application opens at 9am at myhousing.humboldt.edu for all new students who have accepted their admission to Cal Poly Humboldt for Spring 2027. Students will not be able to access the Housing Application until they've accepted their admission.
