E-Waste Recycling
Recycle and help us keep electronic and universal wastes out of the landfill!

See Below for ECycler Locations, Tips and Guides!
Electronic waste, or "e-waste," is unwanted or non-working electronic equipment. E-waste is classified as universal waste, a category of hazardous waste. Many electronic products contain hazardous ingredients such as lead and mercury. There are specific regulations for discarding e-waste and, in general, it cannot be discarded in regular solid waste landfills. Computers, monitors, televisions, and stereos are just a few examples of e-waste.
We also collect and recycle other Universal wastes such as batteries, ink cartridges, light bulbs (LED or CFL), cables, and disks.
The university works with Happy Recyclers (Tycoon Materials, Inc) to divert its electronic waste from the landfill. We ship our e-waste to a facility in California. The first thing they do at the facility is destroy any storage devices holding private information. Some items are then broken down and separated before their materials are recycled. Other items are refurbished and sold or donated for reuse.
