CCRP'S Projects
Below are some of our most impactful projects — large-scale, multi-county efforts that advance rural equity and well-being across Northern California. These initiatives go beyond traditional research: they represent long-term collaborations with communities, Tribes, local organizations, and government partners working toward systemic change. From reimagining the regional economy to building health equity across California's most rural counties, these projects reflect what becomes possible when research, policy, and community organizing work together.
Featured Projects

Rooted Regional Economic Development
Redwood Region RISE
CCRP serves as the Regional Convener for Redwood Region RISE (Resilient Inclusive Sustainable Economy) — a coalition of 150+ member organizations engaging over a thousand residents across Tribal Lands, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, and Mendocino Counties. In this role, CCRP works with regional leaders to support coalition-building, develop and implement a 10-year Regional Roadmap, and coordinate efforts to bring sustainable, quality jobs in key sectors to the region while advancing environmental stewardship and economic inclusivity through the statewide California Jobs First initiative.

Advancing Rural Health Equity
Building Healthy Communities
CCRP served as a research and evaluation partner for Building Healthy Communities (BHC), a 10-year, $1 billion statewide campaign funded by The California Endowment. Del Norte and Tribal Lands was one of only 14 sites selected across California, and CCRP supported the initiative through data collection, community health assessments, and policy research from 2010 to 2020. Though the formal campaign has ended, the relationships and infrastructure built through this work continue — with a core team of community leaders still meeting, collaborating, and advancing health equity in the region.

Strengthening Rural Public Health
Rural Association of Northern California Health Officers (RANCHO)
CCRP served as the Regional Contractor for RANCHO, a two-year initiative developed in partnership with the California Department of Public Health. In this role, CCRP partnered with health officers across California's 11 most northern counties to advance health equity and support an equitable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic — coordinating regional efforts, identifying public health gaps, and strengthening rural public health infrastructure across the Rural North.
