What We've Built
Since launching in early 2023, Redwood Region RISE has:
- Engaged 150+ organizations and thousands of residents through ~500 listening sessions, surveys, and community meetings to create a ground-truthed vision for our communities.
- Built a first-of-its kind inclusive regional governance body — including an Equity Committee and a Tribal Table.
- Developed a federally approved 10-year Regional Roadmap (EDA-recognized Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy).
- Launched sector strategies and forged deep partnerships across Tribal Lands, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, and Mendocino Counties.
- Deployed $9M in California Jobs First funding and $2.5M in private funding to seed 19 community-endorsed initiatives.
- Built a support infrastructure and convened leaders to develop advancement strategies across five key sectors: Arts, Culture, and Tourism; Health and Caregiving; Renewable and Resilient Energy; and Working Lands and Blue Economy; and Workforce Development.
- Supported jurisdictions with economic development finance training and capacity building.
- Secured an additional ~$4 million in funding from California Jobs First for Working Lands and Blue Economy projects.

A Note About RRRISE’s Sustainability
Redwood Region RISE's funding through California Jobs First (California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and Employment Development Department (EDD) runs through September 2026.
Our Sustainability Working Group is currently exploring organizational models and funding paths for what comes next. We'll share updates as they develop. In the meantime, we remain committed to making the most of the time and resources we have — and to making sure everything we've built together is accessible to our region for years to come. Thank you for being part of this journey!
