Elena Laughlin
First Year Practicum Student
Hello there, I’m Elena Laughlin (she/her), a First-Year Practicum Trainee!
I moved here from Santa Cruz, where I studied and received my BA in Psychology. I have a social work background working with teenagers in the foster care system and with adults and children affected by incarceration.
Through my training at CAPS, I hope to better understand ways to support clients so that they can live the life that they want. I’m interested in using mindfulness, person-centered, and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in our sessions together. I bring a warm, empathetic, non-judgmental, and genuine attitude. I strive to help support my clients in exploring their inner world and moving through the struggles that inevitably come up as they navigate this strange, complex world that we live in. In my free time I like to play the guitar and drums, dance to live music, crochet animal hats for my friends, and wander around the forest foraging for mushrooms!
