Post Master's Resident

My name is Margaret, and I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker who approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, and compassion. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota Duluth, concentrating in Clinical Social Work Practice. My clinical background focuses on adolescent mental health, trauma-informed care, group facilitation, and acute mental health support.

I ground my practice in creating a safe, trusting environment where clients feel truly heard, respected, and understood. Having moved far from home for both my undergraduate and graduate education, I deeply understand the challenges of major life transitions, homesickness, and building a new sense of community. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership where we identify strengths, build adaptive coping strategies, and explore the broader personal and systemic factors influencing well-being. Using evidence-based frameworks including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed interventions. I tailor care to each client's unique identity, developmental needs, and goals.

Cultural humility and responsive care are central to my work. Guided by my own experience navigating intersecting identities and new environments, I strive to cultivate a nonjudgmental space of authentic belonging, honoring clients as the experts of their own lives. At CAPS, I am dedicated to supporting students through academic, personal, relational, and emotional challenges to help them build self-understanding, foster resilience, and achieve lasting self-acceptance.
