Alexa Shockley

Seond Year Practicum Student

Hello! My name is Alexa Shockley. I earned my BA in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz and now I am in my first year in the Masters in Counseling program here at Cal Poly Humboldt. I have a background in crisis counseling as well as experience working with children with developmental disabilities. I believe it’s an honor and privilege to be let into someone’s inner world, and am passionate about providing a safe, empowering and non-judgemental space for students on their journey toward growth and healing. I aim to use a collaborative, trauma-informed and person-centered approach to counseling based on each person’s unique needs, and am interested in integrating techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gestalt, CBT, and mindfulness.

In my free time I enjoy hiking, cooking, surfing, lifting weights, and spending quality time with my loved ones.
