Grace Gonzalez

Second Year Practicum Student

Hello! My name is Grace Gonzalez. I am originally from the Coachella Valley in Southern California. I attended CSU Fullerton where I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology and minor in philosophy. I am now in the masters in counseling program here at Cal Poly Humboldt and am feeling so grateful to be a part of this wonderful team at CAPS.

I aim to create a peaceful, open, and judgment-free space for people to discuss and process their feelings in therapy. I hope to create a strong collaborative relationship with clients so that we can work through any issue together. Some of my specific interests are CBT, ACT, mindfulness based therapy, and attachment theory. I have experience working with children and adults with a variety of mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, and autism. During my undergrad I interned at a rehabilitation center and worked with people struggling with substance use disorder. Currently, I am a research assistant in Dr. Padrón’s Intergenerational Trauma and Attachment lab.

Also, I love horses and plan to practice equine assisted therapy once I graduate from the program!
