Borrowing Digital Media Equipment

Current Cal Poly Humboldt students, staff, and Faculty with a valid Humboldt ID Card may check out equipment from the Library Front Desk on the first floor.

Faculty and staff that need equipment for a full semester or longer, should check with their departments before trying to check out equipment from the Library.

Borrowers are responsible for all applicable charges of the equipment, or any included accessories which are damaged, lost, stolen, or returned late.

Equipment must be returned to the Front Desk. Do not place equipment in a Library book drop or book return slot.

Digital Media Equipment & Information Guides

Some types of equipment include:

  • Laptops & Tablets - PCs, MacBooks, Chromebooks, iPads
  • Calculators - graphing & scientific
  • Cell Phone Chargers and Power Banks
  • Webcams
  • Headphones
  • Cameras - DSLR/Mirrorless cameras, camcorders, and GoPros
  • 360-degree Cameras - GoPro Max & Insta360 X5
  • Digital Recorders
  • Mics - XLR & USB
  • Accessories - tripods, projectors, lights, reflectors, and more

Software Available on Laptops

Laptops include similar software found in campus computer labs.

Laptop and Digital Media Equipment Loan Periods and Condition of Use

  • Most equipment is checked out for 3 days (please note that there is a $5 per day overdue fine).
  • Chromebooks and Macs circulate for a full semester (limited availability based on first come, first served)
  • PCs circulate for both 3 days and 3 weeks (availability based on first come, first served)
  • There is a $5 per day overdue fine for equipment
  • Equipment replacement cost ranges between $20 and $2000
  • Renewals may be granted based on equipment needs
  • Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Laptops and equipment must be used in compliance with the following policies:

Remember to save your files to your Google Drive or USB device. Files and content saved to equipment will be erased after it is returned to the library.
