New Polytechnic Programs
These new programs are highly interdisciplinary and meet the needs of our rural communities, with particular emphasis on underserved populations.
They align with the state of California’s goals in areas related to climate resilience and wildfire mitigation, and create access to impacted degree programs in the CSU system that correlate with huge workforce gains. A large emphasis will be placed on authentic engagement and collaboration with tribal/Indigenous communities to leverage their expertise and community practices.
Launched 2026
The Applied Humanities, B.A. provides you with an understanding of how the humanities inform and enhance human life. The program takes on a multidisciplinary approach, reframing timeless humanities skills and knowledge in terms of contemporary workforce needs. You’ll develop transferable, career-related skills, including cross-cultural dialogue, media literacy, ethical reflection, and leadership capacity, while also fostering an appreciation for the intrinsic value of the humanities.
The Critical Agriculture Studies & Agroecology (CASA) B.A. at Cal Poly Humboldt combines hands-on farming experience with deep exploration of food systems, environmental justice, and cultural resilience. Students gain practical skills in agroecological methods while studying the histories and power dynamics that shape agriculture today. Whether you're passionate about land, food, health, or social change, this program prepares you to lead in creating a more just and sustainable future.
The Community Health B.A. program utilizes multiple frameworks for a justice-oriented approach to community health. Our goal is to examine how social and physical environments intersect with personal behavior, and how these factors impact access to, and utilization of, health promoting programs. We engage in our community to examine the systemic changes needed to support the health and wellbeing of marginalized populations on individual and population levels.
The Bachelor of Science in Health & Medical Science offers a dynamic foundation in the biological, social, and behavioral sciences, preparing students for healthcare careers or advanced study in fields like medicine, pharmacy, and physical therapy. The program connects students with hands-on experiences through local internships and shadowing opportunities, equipping them with the skills, insight, and confidence to thrive in a wide range of health professions.
The M.A. in STEM Education at Cal Poly Humboldt prepares culturally responsive, research-informed educators to meet the growing demand for STEM teachers across California and beyond. This flexible, hybrid two-year program integrates credentialing with advanced coursework and an action research project, empowering students to become teacher-leaders and STEM advocates in their communities. With multiple elective pathways and fully online options, it supports diverse professional goals from K–12 classrooms to broader STEM education contexts. In just two years, you will earn both a credential and an M.A.

The B.F.A. in Media Arts at Cal Poly Humboldt is where creative vision meets technological exploration. Designed for students passionate about storytelling through film/video, photography, animation, design, and audio, the program offers a hands-on, flexible curriculum that prepares graduates for professional success in the fast-evolving digital arts industries.
