About Redwood Region RISE

Who We Are

Rural regions like the Redwood Region have to be innovative to thrive — it's in our DNA. Spanning Tribal Lands, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, and Mendocino Counties, we're home to California's longest state coastline, globally significant redwood forests, the state's largest natural freshwater lake, and one of the world's largest geothermal areas. With over 95% of the region classified as "disinvested" and a history of boom-and-bust cycles, collaborative problem-solving is key to our success.

Redwood Region RISE (Resilient Inclusive Sustainable Economy) is a Collaborative of 175+ partners from across Tribal Lands, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, and Mendocino Counties, convened by the California Center for Rural Policy (CCRP) at Cal Poly Humboldt. North Edge Financing serves as Fiscal Agent.

How We Envision Change

Redwood Region RISE believes that collective action is the key to overcoming historical challenges in our region. By fostering networking, trust, and partnerships across diverse communities, RRRISE aims to unlock the potential of "unlikely" collaborations and accelerate investment in key industries.

We align organizations and community leaders around shared goals, cultivating inclusive decision-making processes, and ensuring coordinated efforts for economic growth, climate resilience, and community well-being. Through our Theory of Change framework, RRRISE aspires to create a sustainable and inclusive future built on the strength of regional cooperation.

Our Goals – And How We Get There

Leveraging our region's unique strengths, the RRRISE Collaborative works to address low median incomes, high poverty rates, and limited economic opportunity by connecting economic development project leaders with expertise, attracting funding, and prioritizing investments that benefit disinvested areas and marginalized communities — working toward a future where stable jobs, accessible healthcare, and economic resilience are realities for all.
