Aviation Events

Airport Day 2026 is on Saturday April 25 2026! It  is a free, family-friendly community event at Murray Field in Eureka CA. and it is organized by the Cal Poly Humboldt Aviation Club who holds the event to promote aviation and community. The event is an awesome place to take kids, it features static displays of aircraft, local pilots, and community organizations.

A wide variety of aircraft including private planes, local pilot displays, and helicopters from agencies like the U.S. Coast Guard, CalFire and local emergency services will be there and you can look inside aircraft! The event Includes educational opportunities, NOAA, the Sheriff’s Department, Caltrans, and others will have things to do and learn about.

The Aviation Club hopes the event will connect the community with aviation and showcase careers by providing educational opportunities for students.

The event is a collaboration between the Humboldt County Department of Aviation and the Cl Poly Humboldt Aviation Club.  If you need more information or have an organization that could be part of the event contact the Cal Poly Humboldt Aviation Club, aviation@humboldt.edu, and plan to join us on 4/25/2026 at Murray Field in Eureka!

Airport Day (April 26, 2025)

The Aviation Club just ran the free community event Airport Day on 4/26/2025 at Samoa Field. It was not the best weather, but we think about 800 people came out to the Samoa airfield. As soon as school starts in the fall we will be inviting the Coast Guard to land a helicopter on campus, inviting a local certified flight instructor (CFI) to give a talk about learning how to fly, and talking with a person who works in the control tower about their job helping pilots.
