Catering Services

All on-campus catering services must be processed through CSUBUY P2P.

Key Points to Remember

  • All catering requests (including Chartwells) must be submitted through the P2P system by using the Hospitality Form to initiate a requisition.
  • Advance planning is required. On-campus catering services should be requested at least two weeks in advance, with a Requisition and Purchase Order (PO) number in place before services occur.
  • Due to state fire marshal requirements, the use of sternos and open flame devices are no longer permitted on campus for indoor spaces.   All caterers, including offsite caterers, cannot use sterno type products or open flame devices for heating hot food.
    • For outside catered events, a State Fire Marshal permit is required for the use of sternos or open flame heating equipment.
    • Our own campus catering, Humboldt Dining, has moved to alternate options for indoor heated catering. This includes heating packets as well as electric heaters.
    • Please ensure if you are working with an outside caterer that you notify them of this policy.

For Campus Food Truck and Event Concessions Policies please refer to Conference & Event Services

How to Add a Supplier

  1. Departments can search for approved suppliers in P2P. When searching for a supplier, verify the business unit(s) the supplier is active for. If the supplier is not available, Request the New Supplier be added.
  2. If the supplier is registered, their insurance needs to be verified/approved by Procruement.
  3. Suppliers and Contractors offering services which will be performed on the campus are required by the State of California to provide Humboldt with current certification of insurance coverage PRIOR TO the performance of the service. Notify the supplier that they need to provide the following documents to their insurance provider:

    • CSU Insurance Requirements (does not apply to: charter services, public works, and public works related professional services.)
    • CSU Endorsement
    • This includes departments purchasing food from an outside vendor. Auto insurance is not required if food is being picked up; however, if food is being delivered to campus, then auto insurance is required.

    • For more details, see CSU General Provisions
  4. Supplier registeration questions must be sent to the supplier support email: csubuy-suppliersupport@calstate.edu.
