Annette Moulay is a dual degree Environmental Studies (B.A) and Environment and Community (M.A) student at Cal Poly Humboldt. She has a background in ecological research with a focus on native bees and their floral host preferences. Recently she has been working as a Kelp Guardian Intern with the Food Sovereignty Lab on a project culturing flattened acid kelp (Desmarestia ligulata), which has implications of being used in future kelp forest restoration projects. As someone who has been trained in western science, she is particularly interested in learning more about the implementation of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), Indigenous science, and social ecology. She currently lives on Wiyot land and acknowledges that during her time here, she will ensure that she appreciates and cares for the land. Annette moved to Northern California from Southern California and her ethnic background is Indigenous North African (Amazigh) along with a mixture of Irish, Italian, and German. As a researcher and artist, she is thrilled to be able to work with the Rou Dalagurr Food Sovereignty Lab.
