Namixtu’lú’ Esteva

FSL Intern

Padiuxi! Namixtu’lú’ Esteva is Binni Záa from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. She was born and raised in [Oakland, California] Huichuin, ancestral Ohlone lands. Namixtu’lú’ is currently studying Child Development at Cal Poly Humboldt. Her work centers on supporting Indigenous youth in strengthening relationships to land and community, while uplifting ancestral ways of learning and teaching that have been sustained through generations despite efforts of erasure. Namixtu’lú’ approaches her work through a land-based and ceremonial pedagogy, grounded in lived cultural practice, including dance as prayer. She currently serves as the Environmental Justice Advocate for the Women’s Resource Center at Cal Poly Humboldt. Outside of her academic work, Namixtu'lú’ enjoys spending her time with family and friends and being outdoors, especially near water.
