Applied Anthropology, M.A.

Anthropology is a holistic science studying human cultural and biological diversity and evolution, integrating multiple disciplines in sciences, arts, and professional studies. The M.A. in Applied Anthropology builds competitive skills for applying anthropological perspectives in diverse careers. The program emphasizes real-world relevance and applicability of students' interests, experiences, and research.

Applied English, M.A.

Offers a comprehensive curriculum meant to prepare graduates for a range of professional pursuits. The program expands opportunities for K-12 teachers, lays a foundation for doctoral study, and prepares students for jobs in college teaching, as well as careers in publishing, editing, professional writing, librarianship, digital scholarship, and teaching English abroad.

Public Sociology, M.A.

Public Sociology takes sociological knowledge and skills beyond the confines of the academy into the communities. We teach students to translate their work for the non-academic world and impact communities. Our combined degree pathway allows you to get a B.A. in Criminology & Justice Studies or Sociology and get your Public Sociology, M.A. in as little as five years.

Environment & Community, M.A.

The mission of this program is to prepare students to understand the relationship between communities and their environment, to analyze environment-community issues at different scales, and to act effectively in situations where values and interests diverge. Complete your B.A. plus an M.A. in Environment & Community in as little as five years with our combined degree pathway. 

College of Natural Resources & Sciences

Biological Sciences, M.S

As a M.S. student in Biological Sciences, you’ll pursue investigations with an emphasis in the laboratory, forests, marine habitats, or a variety of other settings. The department has facilities and faculty expertise that allow master's students to complete their programs in almost any area of biology.

Engineering & Community Practice, M.S.

This one-year M.S. degree program is designed for future engineering leaders who work with and within communities to protect are restore our environment. The degree is tailored to those who wish to pursue resource management positions that require strong technological and management skills with a focus on working with indigenous and under-served communities.

Environmental Systems (M.S.)

This unique program empowers students better understand and shape the complex systems that underpin our society. The program offers three concentration options: Environmental Resources Engineering, Geology, and Energy Technology & Policy. 

Natural Resources, M.S.

This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and experience necessary to address natural resource problems and to carry out scientific investigations including design, implementation, and evaluation of research in their specific area of study.

Business Administration, M.B.A.

Designed with a focus in strategic sustainability and interdisciplinary knowledge, the M.B.A. program challenges students to grow into innovative and responsible business leaders. With a focus on big picture thinking, our entrepreneurial culture fosters critical and systems analysis, effective communication, ethical reasoning, and team building.

Counseling Psychology, M.A.

Emphasizes a solid foundation in theory and research, along with extensive training in clinical skills. Our program is accredited by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and provides the educational requirements for the Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) license in the state of California. 

Education, M.A.

Geared toward working education professionals, this M.A. program helps students develop effective strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners and understand the critical issues affecting education today. Courses are offered online and in the evenings to provide a convenient and flexible schedule that fosters professional success.

Kinesiology, M.S.

Prepares graduate students for doctoral and professional programs and careers in health, performance, and the promotion of physical activity. Applied learning incorporates theoretical, scientific, and practical knowledge in exercise, health, nutrition, sport, and physical activity.

Psychology, Academic Research Concentration, M.A.

A highly specialized program that provides a foundation in methodology and statistics, as well as in the theoretical frameworks for the major disciplines in psychology. Choose a concentration in: Behavior Analysis, Developmental Psychology, Neuroscience or Social/Cognitive Psychology.

School Psychology, M.A.

A comprehensive three-year program of coursework, field experience, and research training. It combines a master’s degree in School Psychology with a credential authorizing service in California as a school psychologist. Accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). 

Social Work, M.S.W.

Prepares students for advanced generalist practice which emphasizes multi-system, multi-level approaches in which practitioners and clients work in collaboration to enhance the functioning and resilience within systems through building on existing strengths. Emphasis on working in rural and Indigenous communities. 

STEM Education, M.A.

Prepares culturally responsive, research-informed educators to meet the growing demand for STEM teachers across California and beyond. This flexible, hybrid two-year program integrates credentialing with advanced coursework and an action research project, empowering students to become teacher-leaders and STEM advocates in their communities.
