Experiential Classes
- ANTH 482 - Anthropology Internship, 1 unit. Engages students at Cal Poly Humboldt anthropology research and teaching facilities, local agencies, community organizations, and other institutions to enhance students’ knowledge of applied anthropology contexts, methodologies, institutional cultures, and work environments. - ANTH 682 - Internship/Field Placement, 1-3 units. Engage directly in anthropology-related work, such as in research libraries, museums, community organizations, field programs, government agencies, and/or other agencies; enhance knowledge of sources, methodologies, institutional cultures, and work environments. - ART 482 - Museum and Gallery Practices Internship, 3 units. Culminating course for Art Museum and Gallery Practices Certificate. - ART 497S - Service Learning and Art Education I, 3 units. - FILM 455S - Grant Writing, 4 units. Fundamental practices of proposal development and grant writing; applicable to all professions. Hands-on activities as grantee and grantor. - EED 758 - Student Teaching in Elementary School (Spring), 11 units. Student teaching in an elementary school setting with a mentor teacher and university supervision. Liberal Studies Elementary Education Student Teaching Courses
- LSEE 755 - Clinical Practicum I, 3 units. Students in this course will be referred to as Candidates because they are now candidates for a credential. Candidates are required to complete student teaching fieldwork in a year-long placement in a local elementary school. Candidates are evaluated by a mentor teacher and a university supervisor. - LSEE 756 - Clinical Practicum II, 6 units. Second part of the Clinical Practicum. Students in this course will be referred to as Candidates because they are now candidates for a credential. - SED 762 - Supervised Fieldwork in Student Teaching, 1-3 units. Field experience integrated with secondary curriculum instruction (SED 731-SED 741). - GEOL 475 - Geology Field Camp, 4 units. Four weeks of supervised field work in the western US. Principles/ methods for geological mapping. - SPAN 315S - Field Experience: Teaching Spanish as a Second Language, 1-4 units. Class discussions complement supervised academic internships in “approved” community partner K-12 schools, providing students direct application service opportunities of discipline-specific knowledge. Students will be exposed to the theories of language acquisition and learning. - SPAN 365S - Field Experience: Regional Studies, 1-4 units. Students apply four language skills (oral, writing, reading, and comprehension) in an authentic social and cultural context while serving the host country’s local community needs. Recommended preparation: SPAN 107 or SPAN 108, a minimum of three semesters of college-level Spanish language instruction, or equivalent. Repeatable for credit. No special consent required to enroll. - SPAN 408S - Field Experience: Translation and Interpretation, 1-4 units. Supervised application of translation and interpretation of literature, real-world texts, and oral contexts. Students experience and reflect on social/cultural/ethical implications of working in this field. Students and “approved” community partners collaborate through Service Learning. Prerequisite: SPAN 308S or instructor's consent. Repeatable for credit. No special consent required to enroll. Grading mode: Optional Grade Basis.
