Matias Solorzano

Psychology, 2025

Matias will start a PhD program in Special Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the Fall 2025 semester. He also received an Education Graduate Research Scholars fellowship from the School of Education at UW-Madison to assist him in pursuing his research interests. At UW-Madison, Matias will conduct research on the transition to adulthood in employment for autistic individuals. He seeks to connect more autistic adults to resources that will help them find employment. Recently, Matias completed an internship with the California Department of Developmental Services in the Autism Services Branch. This internship helped him make connections at DDS and made him realize that working in civil service is a good career path for individuals interested in making the world a better place for individuals with disabilities.

Claudine Bibeau Parks

Claudine is set to obtain a nonprofit leadership and management degree from Arizona State University (ASU) in May, which will complement her leadership studies degree program at Humboldt.

Timothy Rupiper

Liberal Studies Elementary Education, 2020

Timothy Rupiper received a job as an outreach advisor for Academic Talent Search at Sonoma State University. Rupiper is responsible for providing consistent, accurate, academic advising services to first generation, low income, college bound 6th to12th grade students. Advising includes exploring academic requirements of a specific program or major and assisting students in exploring careers, evaluating academic abilities, and setting goals.

AmyK Conley

Education

Dr. AmyK Conley received grant funding for a teacher preparation program that trains undergraduate students as certified high-impact literacy tutors. The project will strengthen reading support for struggling K–12 students in Northern Humboldt while building a pipeline of educators grounded in the science of reading. Through coursework and clinical practice, undergraduates will gain training in developmental literacy and provide targeted literacy interventions in local schools and rural Northern California districts.

This grant comes as a sub-award from Northern Humboldt Unified High School District, with primary funding from the US Department of Education.

Psychology

Benny Anjewierden and Dr. Amber Gaffney in collaboration with colleagues at the University of Alberta have a forthcoming book chapter, "Uncertainty and social identity", in K. Vail, D. Van Tongeren, B. Schlegel, J. Greenberg, L. King, & R. Ryan (Eds.), Handbook of the Science of Existential Psychology.

Chris Walmsley, Ph.D.

Psychology

In the fall 2025 semester, Dr. Walmsley was invited by the editor of Operants magazine to write a gerontology piece. The article is entitled "Using Behavior Analysis To Help Evaluate Social Outcomes in a Nutrition Program for Older Adults". It details some community-based ABA research conducted by Dr. Walmsley and his research lab in collaboration with a local agency providing services to older adults.
